This should have been posted about March 15th.

Our son Jamie bought a little 2-bedroom "cottage" on the Nith River in Paris as an investment and rental property and in March was busy doing his "fixer-upper" thing.

Our Grandaughter Natalie was having her 5th birthday in March. The other grandkids all have birthdays while we are home in the summer, but I always miss Natalie's.
So this year, on an impulse, I flew home to the birthday and family gathering. Jim and Missy thought I was nuts and stayed in the sunny south.
My surprise worked very well. Our friend Gary was a doll and picked me up at the Hamilton Airport and drove me to Paris, where both the boys were working on "the cottage". It was great fun to see everyone. We kept it as a surprise for Natalie until we arrived at her place for the party. Little Jack missed grampa, as did we all, but it was a wonderful family time. Great party, Nat!
Now,
What was I thinking? Well, if you know me well, you know I hate winter. I have always hated winter! Oh, those "yard duty" days! Yuck! Even as a kid I would huddle out of the wind while my friends played, waiting for my mother to let me come in. Well, do you remember what it was like in early March? Snow! Snow! More snow! And COLD! What was I thinkimg?!

When Jim phoned to wish Nat a Happy Birthday (on his way to the pool!) I begged him to get me an earlier flight back. No go! I was in that freezing weather for two weeks. The kids were tobogganning down the hills at the side of the road made by the snowplows. When I went into the back yard of the "cottage" to take pictures to show Jim, I was dragging through a hip deep snowdrift with NO BOOTS. I fell and - it is no joke - I could NOT get up. Jamie came and rescued me. Now you understand "What was I thinking?"
